How To Bid on Timed Online Auctions

Timed online auctions have an open bidding date and a closing date & time. Before the auction is actually open for bidding, you can view lots descriptions & photos. When the auction opens for bidding, you will be able to place bids. Any bids placed in the last minute will add 1 minute of extension time to the timer to allow other bidders to bid again and prevent "sniping".

There are two ways to bid on timed auctions: Incremental bidding and Autobids.

Incremental Bidding

To bid, click on the Asking Price button & click to confirm or cancel. This amount increases by the bid increment on each bid placed.

Once you place a bid, your bid status is shown (A). Your bid status updates if you are over reserve or outbid. You can also look at the bar (B) to see how far you are from reserve.

Autbids allow you to place a max amount you want to spend on a lot. (Excluding VAT & charges, this will be added to your invoice). You can place Autobids (C) and the system will outbid others or bid up to reserve, up to your maxmium set amount. Your bid status updates if you are over reserve, outbid or won the lot once it closes.

How To Bid on Webcast Auctions

Bid during Live Webcast Auction Closing

Webcast bidding is controlled by the auctioneer. During closing you will hear or see the auctioneer feed (C) and bid live against floor bidders (if any) over simulcast on the internet. To bid, click on the current Asking price (A). Your bid status is shown (B), you will either be the highest bidder or outbid. Increments are controlled by the auctioneer. During closing you cannot place Autobids so bid early & fast to stay ahead of the rest.

Pre-Bidding on Webcast Auctions

The Webcast pre-bidding phase is the time before the auction Webcast starts with the auctioneer feed. During pre-bidding you are able to place Incremental bids or Autobids on lots.

If you place Autobids (A), the system will bid up to your amounts during Live auction closing, on your behalf.

You can place incremental bids (B & C)) during pre-bidding phase also, by clicking the green Asking price button. Your bid status will be displayed (D) notifying you if you are the highest or have been outbid by other pre-bidders.
